Air contains both the silence and the vibrations of sound.<\/p>\n<p>A quick flick of the hand, or a vibrating string, create sound \u2014 followed by the impulse to respond.<\/p>\n<h2>The Program<\/h2>\n<p>The program includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Philippe Hurel (1955): \u00c0 b\u00e2tons rompus (2008), for saxophone and percussion<\/li>\n<li>Linda Catlin Smith (1957): Dirt Road (2006), a work in 15 movements for violin and percussion<\/li>\n<li>Ana Sokolovi\u0107 (1968): Shower Song (2021), a whimsical ode to singing in the shower<\/li>\n<li>Tetiana Khoroshun (1996): String Quartet No. 4 (2025, world premiere)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Composer <strong>Tetiana Khoroshun<\/strong> is known for creating both acoustic and electroacoustic music, along with sound installations, and her catalogue incorporates music for performance, films, and video games. While at the UofT, he won the University of Toronto Winds Concerto Competition and performed Ingolf Dahl\u2019s saxophone concerto with the university\u2019s Wind Ensemble. He was named a University of Toronto Scholar, and is the recipient of a Graduate Fellowship. He was also a nominee for a Rhodes Scholarship. In 2024, Christopher advanced to the live quarter final round of the Andorra Saxfest International Solo Competition.<\/p>\n<p>Christopher founded and performs with the Toronto Saxophone Collective. He\u2019s also performed several world premieres with a number of chamber ensembles in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>A passionate teacher, he maintains a private studio, and teaches at schools through the Greater Toronto Area, as well as assignments at the University of Toronto and Royal Conservatory.<\/p>\n<h3>Veronica Zupanic, violin<\/h3>\n<p>Veronica Zupanic earned a Bachelor\u2019s degree from the University of Ottawa, followed by a Master\u2019s degree from the University of Toronto. While studying at the University of Ottawa, she was the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including the Bhawani Anantaraman Memorial Foundation (BAMF) fund.<\/p>\n<p>Her musical practice includes a focus on contemporary classical music and living composers in particular, as well as performances with large ensembles such at the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, and Ontario Pops Orchestra, where she was winner of the Young Artists\u2019 Bursary scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>She is the concertmaster of the Contemporary Music Ensemble (CME) at the University of Toronto, and as a member of the ensemble, has collaborated with composers such as Donnacha Dennehy, Zosha di Castri, Magnus Lindberg, and Ana Sokolovi\u0107.<\/p>\n<p>Veronica is an educator with a passion for inspiring and guiding young musicians.<\/p>\n<h3>Thomas Li, percussion<\/h3>\n<p>Percussionist Thomas Li is a chamber and orchestral musician with a focus on new music. He recently graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master\u2019s degree, and is a member of the University of Toronto Contemporary Music Ensemble. He\u2019s attended several music festivals, including Banff Centre\u2019s Evolution: Classical, where he worked with members of the Kronos Quartet, and the Nief-Norf Summer Festival, where he worked Mark Applebaum.<\/p>\n<p>He performed the music of Elizabeth Ogonek (where are we now) on a recent release in The Oberlin Concertos series.<\/p>\n<p>As an artist, Thomas explores integrating visual media into his performance, and dedicates his voice to both personal expression, and expressing the collective stories and histories of his home city, Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<h3>Bevis Ng, percussion<\/h3>\n<p>Bevis Ng is currently studying towards a Master\u2019s degree in Percussion Performance at the University of Toronto, where he&#8217;s involved with the TaPIR Lab, focused on the intersections between performance, composition, and technology.<\/p>\n<p>His research involves examining the roles of performer, composer, and technician, and documenting performances practices of new pieces, and often collaborates with composer\/technician Fish Tsz Long Yu.<\/p>\n<p>Bevis previously studied music at the The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts \u9999\u6e2f\u6f14\u85dd\u5b78\u9662, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Timpani and Orchestral Percussion, followed by a Master\u2019s degree at the University of Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>He performs regularly as part of the award-winning K\u00f6NG Duo with fellow percussionist Hoi Tong Keung, and the Kairos Percussion Quartet with Nikki Huang, Thomas Li, and Andrew Busch.<\/p>\n<h2>Concert Details<\/h2>\n<p>The concert takes place November 2 from 2 to 3 p.m. at ArrayMusic.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Find other details and tickets [<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/airmotion-tickets-1783159119929\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a><\/strong>].<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Are you looking to promote an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/advertising\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\"><u>event<\/u><\/span><\/a>?
