It\u2019s the 36th year for the celebration of reading, writing, and literacy.<\/p>\n<p>The festival features a variety of ways to enjoy writing and literature, including poet spotlights, author readings, talks, and much more, including music and performance. There are too many artists and acts to list; here\u2019s a look at two whose work incorporates music in creative ways.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tyEVc6UCT6I?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<h3>Joseph Maviglia<\/h3>\n<p>Toronto based singer-songwriter Joseph Maviglia has a new book of poetry titled In a Cage of Sunlight that will be featured at the Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph was born in Ottawa, and studied at Simon Fraser University before attention the Banff Centre. He\u2019s lived in Toronto since then, developing a signature performance and practice that blends poetry and song.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Maviglia\u2019s work crosses the lines between poetry and song, using various techniques and forms both traditional and experimental. In his book In a Cage of Sunlight, he writes about topics and themes as diverse as urban infrastructure, prophecy, and dreams.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s toured across North America and Europe, and performed at The WOMAD Festival of World Music, the National Gallery of Canada, New York&#8217;s Nuyorican Poets&#8217; Cafe, and The International School of Brussels, among other festivals and venues.<\/p>\n<p>His song, &#8216;Father, It&#8217;s Time&#8217; appeared on the Juno Award-winning compilation album The Gathering.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph\u2019s poems have been published widely in journals, and his books include, A God Hangs Upside Down (Guernica Editions) and Freakin&#8217; Palomino Blue (Mosaic Press), and the non-fiction Critics Who Know Jack: Urban Myths, Media and Rock and Roll (Guernica Editons).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117839\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-117839\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-117839\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/JeremyAndNadia-Gallery-1.jpg\" alt=\"Performers Aiza Ntibarikure and Jeremy Fisher aka Jeremy and Jazzy (Photo courtesy of the artists)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/JeremyAndNadia-Gallery-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/JeremyAndNadia-Gallery-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/JeremyAndNadia-Gallery-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/JeremyAndNadia-Gallery-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-117839\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Performers Nadia Casandra and Jeremy Fisher aka Jeremy and Jazzy (Photo courtesy of the artists)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>Animated Duo Jeremy and Jazzy<\/h3>\n<p>Jeremy and Jazzy are favourites of the younger set, stars of the CBC show of the same name. They\u2019ll be performing live at the festival on the CBC Kids Stage.<\/p>\n<p>There are two real-life musicians behind the cartoon characters you see on screen: singer-songwriter Jeremy Fisher and artist Aiza Ntibarikure. Their music is a large part of the show\u2019s success. The live show will feature Jeremy Fisher along with Nadia Casandra as the live Jazzy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeremy Fisher<\/strong> voices the character of Jeremy. Fisher is a three-time JUNO Award nominee, and along with working as a writer and composer, he\u2019s co-creator and producer of the show. He\u2019s been a professional musician since 2001, and has toured through North America and Japan. As a performer, he\u2019s shared the stage with artists such as Alanis Morissette, Blue Rodeo, and Measha Brueggergosman, among others.<\/p>\n<p>He began writing children\u2019s music under the name Jeremy Fisher Junior after the birth of his daughter, starting with his debut children\u2019s album, Highway to Spell. Jeremy ad Jazzy began to come to life in 2019 in a collaboration with V\u00e9rit\u00e9 Films and Hidden Pony Records.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nadia Casandra<\/strong> will portray Jazzy for the live show.
