Tartu Academic Male Choir North America Tour<\/h3>\n

Friday, August 22, 6 p.m.
\nSt. Peter\u2019s Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Toronto, 817 Mount Pleasant Road, $30<\/p>\n

Tartu Academic Male Choir from Estonia sinks its touring anchor in Toronto this Friday. Founded in 1912, TAM illustrates the cultural significance and musical excellence of the Estonian choral tradition. Thirty singers are on this tour, under the batons of Roland Viilukas and Made Ritsing, featuring many wonderful choral composers including Arvo P\u00e4rt, Veljo Tormis, and many more. Toronto Estonian Male Voice Choir and conductor Avo Kittask will join them in this lovely concert. There will be a dinner with the choirs following the concert, and dinner tickets (40\/pp) must be reserved by August 18 (yes, today \u2014 Monday!) through email here. stpeterstoronto@rogers.com Come and experience the Estonian choral tradition in person \u2014 it is such a fantastic way to create a truly inclusive and beautiful national identity. RCM Summer Piano Performance Intensive: Final Concert featuring Students and Stewart Goodyear, RCM Artist-in-Residence<\/h3>\n

The two-week RCM Summer Piano Performance Intensive\u2019s last public concert takes place in Mazzolini this Saturday. It\u2019s the culmination of a busy two weeks for the students, and it\u2019s always good to hear Goodyear play live. Additionally, there are two free evening concerts earlier in the week at Mazzoleni Hall, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 18 and Thursday, the 21st, featuring student participants. As the last glory of the summer casts a long shadow, it\u2019s a great opportunity to support the young generation, as they generously share their love for music. Info here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Labyrinth Ontario: Modal Music in the Park<\/h3>\n

Saturday August 23, 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.

Modal music, one of the oldest styles of formally organized music, may sound unfamiliar; however, its influence in general Western music and folk\/traditional music remains strong, and this open concert in the park is a great way to focus and explore the colours and possibilities of modal music. Let these excellent musicians, Labyrinth Ensemble Trio at 12:30 p.m., and Turkish Music Trio at 2:30 p.m., guide you on this lovely Saturday afternoon. Come with family, friends, snacks, and blankets, and you might be pleasantly surprised to find these beautiful modal melodies to be familiar to your ears and heart. Harbourfront Centre: A Little Afternoon Music<\/h3>\n

Charlotte Siegel, a COC Ensemble graduate, and pianist Nate Ben-Horin bring their favourites, from opera, songs, and musical theatre. Bring your friends and families, settle into the gentle shade by the lake, and join in the community for gorgeous melodies for this penultimate concert of the Summer Music in the Garden series. Concerts on Connolly Present: Lula Cuban All-Stars<\/h3>\n

Sunday, August 24, 4:45 p.m. DJ JER, 5:30 p.m. for Lula Cuban All-Stars

Wadsworth Park, near St. Clair and Laughton, hosts summer outdoor concerts, and for this Sunday, this live Cuban music will bring all-age family fun to everyone. Led by percussionist Papiosco Torres, LCAS brings the rhythm out of Lula Lounge, presenting old favourites and new tunes from Cuba, and even if you have never taken a salsa step, no need to worry \u2014 Dailyn Martinez from Shum de Salsa!, will guide your feet with the infectious rhythm of the live band. Such joy to have diversity and excellence accessible to our community! Multifaceted artist JER will get the crowd warmed up from 4:45 p.m., before the band.
