Hope Muir, Joan and Jerry Lozinski Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, announced that the company has won a UK Critics\u2019 Circle National Dance Award. The Award was bestowed for the NBC\u2019s performance of Angels\u2019 Atlas in the category of Best Classical Choreography for Crystal Pite.<\/p>\n

The performance took place during the company\u2019s European tour<\/a>. Angels\u2019 Atlas was presented on Frontiers: Choreographers of Canada, which showcased work by James Kudelka, Emma Portner and Pite at Sadler\u2019s Wells in London, UK in October 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a great honour for The National Ballet of Canada to be recognized with a National Dance Award. The way London audiences embraced our all-Canadian program featuring works by Crystal Pite, James Kudelka and Emma Portner, was humbling and I am so proud of the entire company,\u201d said Muir.<\/p>\n

\u201cAngels\u2019 Atlas holds a special place in the company\u2019s history. It was created for us by Crystal in 2020 and has become a significant and beloved work in our repertoire.\u201d<\/p>\n
