Enjoy new music with our classical music chart for this week. Our weekly selections<\/a> are based on sales numbers and simply what albums we love and think you NEED to hear.<\/p>\n For the complete top 20, tune into Classical Chartz<\/a><\/strong> with the New Classical FM\u2019s Mark Wigmore every Saturday from 3-5 p.m.<\/p>\n Remarkably, the 1, 2, 3, 5 and 9 positions on the Classical Chartz remain unchanged from last week. Ludovico Einaudi<\/strong> and The Summer Portraits<\/strong> have dug in at the No. 1 spot, holding off a serious challenge form the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Gustavo Gimeno<\/strong> with their recording of Stravinsky\u2019s Pulcinella<\/strong>, which holds on to No. 2. Likewise, Alice Sara Ott<\/strong> and John Field Complete Nocturnes<\/strong> is parked at the No. 3 spot.<\/p>\n The other hold outs this week are Renaud Capu\u00e7on<\/strong> and his recording of Richard Strauss<\/strong>, and Classical Chartz stalwart Andrea Bocelli<\/strong>, whose Duets (30th Anniversary)<\/strong> has been on the Classical Chartz, and in the Top Ten, for so long we\u2019ve lost count.<\/p>\n Brand new to the Top Ten is Spanish violinist\u00a0Mar\u00eda Due\u00f1as<\/strong> and her release titled Paganini.<\/strong> For her second album on the Deutsche Grammophon label, she takes on Nicol\u00f2 Paganini\u2019s 24 Caprices, works which have become iconic \u2014 <\/em>and known to be among the most difficult works \u2014 <\/em>in the violin repertoire. Along with Paganini\u2019s own music, she offers a selection of works that were inspired by the Italian virtuoso and composer, including Berlioz, Kreisler, Gabriela Ortiz, Cervell\u00f3, Saint-Sa\u00ebns, Sarasate, and Wieniawski.<\/span><\/p>\n In the liner notes, she says, \u201cPaganini\u2019s 24 Caprices are a milestone for every violinist,\u201d explains Due\u00f1as, when asked about her choice of repertoire. \u201cI grew up listening to and performing them, and when we hear the word \u2018caprice\u2019 we instantly think of Paganini, but there are so many other caprices, from Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019s Rondo capriccioso to works by contemporary composers like Cervell\u00f3, for example.
