No surprise here\u2014 <\/em>Andrea Bocelli<\/strong> and Duets (30th Anniversary)<\/strong> takes over the No. 1 spot on the Classical Chartz Top Ten for the week. Bocelli\u2019s new biopic also recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and it seems like the celebrated tenor is out to commemorate his three decades in the music industry with panache.<\/p>\n

Close behind, Icelandic pianist V\u00edkingur \u00d3lafsson<\/strong> makes the leap from No. 6 last week to take the No. 2 spot with his album Continuum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Two newcomers crack the Classical Chartz Top Ten this week. Nemanja Radulovi\u0107<\/strong>\u2019s album J.S. Bach<\/strong> rises from No. 12 to hit No. 8 this week.<\/p>\n

The French-Serbian violinist performs a variety of works by J.S. Bach on his simply titled release, such as Baderie,\u00a0 Erbarme Dich, from Mattha\u00fcs Passion, with Philippe Jaroussky, the Double concerto for oboe & violin BWV 1060, Concerto for violin in E Major BWV 1042, a transcription of the Flute Sonata in E-Flat Major BWV 1031 for violin and harpsichord (with St\u00e9phanie Fontanarosa), and more. He\u2019s accompanied by S\u00e9bastien Giot & Double Sens on most tracks.<\/p>\n

Alison Balsom<\/strong>\u2019s Baroque Concertos<\/strong> takes over the No. 10 spot, up four from No. 14 last week. Balsom plays a modern piccolo trumpet in a musical conversation with period instruments to perform six concertos drawn from the Baroque era. They include pieces by Handel, Vivaldi, Telemann, Albinoni and Marcello that were originally composed for violin or oboe.<\/p>\n

Director Trevor Pinnock and the Pinnock Players accompany Alison\u2019s adventures into the era, and the piccolo trumpet and its capabilities.<\/p>\n
