Sol Le\u00f3n\u00a0and\u00a0Paul Lightfoot\u2019s\u00a0Silent Screen\u00a0takes the stage November 9 to 16 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.<\/p>\n<p>Also on the program is Sir Frederick Ashton\u2019s\u00a0Rhapsody\u00a0(another Canadian premiere), and\u00a0Guillaume C\u00f4t\u00e9\u2019s\u00a0Body of Work, a work that will mark the start of the latter\u2019s last season as a Principal Dancer with the company.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FDRP3bzErLo?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<h3>Creators &amp; Program<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Paul Lightfoot<\/strong> is a native of the UK, who joined the Nederlands dans Theater (NDT) shortly after graduating from the Royal Ballet School in London. He spent years as a dancer, and debuted as a choreographer in 1989. <strong>Sol Le\u00f3n<\/strong> is from C\u00f3rdoba, Spain. He joined NDT in 1987, after graduating from the Madrid Ballet School. She began collaborating with Lightfoot in 1991, creating stage designs and costumes. Together, the duo were appointed NDT\u2019s house choreographers in 2002.<\/p>\n<p>Silent Screen is set to the music of Philip Glass, and blurs the lines between the dancers and a silent film that is projected on screens that shift as the dance progresses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sir Frederick Ashton<\/strong>\u2019s one-act ballet Rhapsody is choreographed to Rachmaninoff&#8217;s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. It premiered in 1980, created for the occasion of both Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother&#8217;s 80th birthday, and Mikhail Baryshnikov&#8217;s guest appearance with the Royal Ballet. Sir\u00a0Frederick\u00a0William Mallandaine Ashton OM CH CBE (1904 \u2013 1988) was an icon of British dance, starting as a dancer, then choreographer, along with roles as a director and choreographer in film and opera.<\/p>\n<p>Hope Muir, Joan and Jerry Lozinski Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, acquired the Canadian premiere of Rhapsody for Ashton Worldwide, a five-year festival that pays tribute to the British choreographer\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KY5sEaX5p0s?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p><strong>Guillaume C\u00f4t\u00e9<\/strong>\u2019s Body of Work is the first of the dancer\/choreographer\u2019s special performances that will pepper this, his final season with the National Ballet as a Principal Dancer.
