The Quartet is celebrating their 30th anniversary season, and their latest album Home, released earlier this year on the Pentatone label.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Toronto date, they\u2019ll be appearing in London on November 15, and Hamilton on the 17th. The wins launched an international performing career that has taken them far from their home base of Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Equally dedicated to education, since 2003, the Mir\u00f3 Quartet has served as the quartet-in-residence at the University of Texas at Austin Sarah and Ernest Butler School of Music, and in 2005 they became the first ensemble to receive the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant.<\/p>\n<p>The Quartet was nominated for a 2024 GRAMMY\u00ae Award for its album House of Belonging, a project created in collaboration with Conspirare, an Austin-based choral group. Their second album on the Pentatone label, titled Home, dropped in May 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Their 30th anniversary season performance schedule includes stops at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, the Clark Library in Los Angeles, Chamber Music Detroit, String Theory at the Hunter and Hunter Museum of American Art, and many more. The Quartet will also be launching new collaborations with saxophonist and actor Steven Banks and bass-baritone Joseph Parrish.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/S5xy2ACJMKE?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<h2>The Program<\/h2>\n<p>They\u2019ll be performing a trio of pieces that cross the centuries.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Haydn\u2019s String Quartet in G Major, Op. 77, No. 1;<\/li>\n<li>Debussy\u2019s String Quartet in G Minor, Op. 10;<\/li>\n<li>Caroline Shaw\u2019s Microfictions vol. 1 \u2013 a set of six vivid miniature musical stories inspired by the paintings of Joan Mir\u00f3 (the quartet\u2019s namesake) and the short science fiction of T.R.
