The Festival showcases the work of several artists exploring the relationship between sound and new media.<\/p>\n<p>The artists participating in this year\u2019s festival include Colin Frank, Laura De Decker, Stefan A. Rose, Herm\u00e9n\u00e9gilde Chiasson, Edgardo Moreno, V\u00e9ro Mareng\u00e8re, April Martin and Ben McCarthy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s SOUNDplay Festival connects NAISA\u2019s 2024 theme of Reimagine to the immense world of play available to artists wishing to abstract both images and sounds. This year\u2019s artists Reimagine places, actions, and objects. Colin will introduce the work to kick off the Festival at 7 p.m. on September 26; the installation will be on display until January 6, 2025.<\/p>\n<h3>48-Hour Sound Art Challenge Weekend Intensive, October 18 to 20 (4 p.m. to 4 p.m.)<\/h3>\n<p>Participants in the weekend intensive will be able to create a sound art miniature while enjoying the rural property of Warbler\u2019s Roost in the Almaguin Highlands. The 14-acre property offers both forested and lakeside environments to explore the theme Reimagine. Learning and sharing from your peers is part of the fun. Check out last year\u2019s results from by Victoria Fenner, Yan St-Onge, Troy Ouellette and Anton Pickard <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/naisa\/sets\/48hr-sound-art-challenge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>SOUNDplay Video Screening Reimagined Realities, October 26<\/h3>\n<p>The screening of Canadian videos focuses at works that put sound, image and language on the same level of importance when it comes to communicating. How do the various elements abstract reality? The program includes Peinture Noire by Laura De Decker, Stefan A. Rose &amp; Herm\u00e9n\u00e9gilde Chiasson, Postcard by Edgardo Moreno, Hydra by V\u00e9ro Mareng\u00e8re and screening adaptation of Lake Composition by April Martin and Ben McCarthy. The screening takes place at Warbler\u2019s Roost.<\/p>\n<h3>Wetland Project, Dec 12 (from 12 noon to 12 midnight)<\/h3>\n<p>With support from Other Sights, New Adventures in Sound Art presents a new audio-visual version of the Wetland Project by Brady Marks and Mark Timmings. You can catch it in-person at the artLAB Gallery in London, Ontario, or via livestream as part of their event called Water (Deshkan Ziibi). Curated by Christof Migone, Sheri Osden Nault, and Ruth Skinner, the Wetland Project has been presented previously ]as a radio broadcast that was aired on NAISA Radio last Earth Day in April.<\/p>\n<p>Livestreaming on YouTube and In-person at the artLAB, Department of Visual Arts, Western University, London, Ontario.
