The release showcases the work of Toronto-based composer David Jaeger, incorporating 12 of his nocturnes. Jaeger\u2019s nocturnes are inspired by poetry written by his friends, including Christina herself.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re matched with seven 20th century pieces by Japanese composer T\u014dru Takemitsu, and Polish composers Alexandre Tansman and Henryk G\u00f3recki.<\/p>\n<p>Christina Petrowska Quilico will be performing a selection of pieces from the album, which celebrates the mystery and atmosphere of the night time, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>T\u00f6ru Takemitsu: Les Yeux Clos<\/li>\n<li>David Jaeger: Nocturne: The Murmur (Poetry by Se\u00e1n Haldane)<\/li>\n<li>Alexandre Tansman: Nocturne no.4<\/li>\n<li>David Jaeger: Nocturne: Forget the Day (Poetry by Christina Petrowska Quilico)<\/li>\n<li>David Jaeger: Nocturne: Games of the Night Wind (Poetry by Christina Petrowska Quilico)<\/li>\n<li>Henryk G\u00f3recki: Lullaby<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nocturne No. 12:<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pHt4LChCnmo?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<h3>Composer David Jaeger<\/h3>\n<p>Composer, producer, performer David Jaeger was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and earned his B.Mus. in that state. He went on to get his Master\u2019s of Music degree at the University of Toronto. While at UofT in the early 1970s, he designed one fo the first digital sound synthesis labs in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He joined the CBC, where he worked as a producer for four decades from 1973 until 2013. He worked on a number of series, including Music of Today, where he produced ten broadcasts with Glenn Gould to celebrate Arnold Schoenberg\u2019s centennial. Gould would become a friend and collaborator.<\/p>\n<p>During his tenure at the CBC, he commissioned more than 300 new musical pieces, including R. Murray Schafer\u2019s 3rd String Quartet, the opera, \u2018Iron Road\u2019 by Ka Nin Chan and \u2018The Qualities of Consonance\u2019 by Ann Southam.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s a seven-time JUNO award winner as a producer of more than 200 recordings.<\/p>\n<p>Jaeger has also been composing his own music since the early 1970s. David is a founding member of the\u00a0Canadian Electronic Ensemble, for whom he has composed a number of works.<\/p>\n<p>He is known for a sound that can veer from experimental to one more rooted in traditional idioms.
