New Adventures in Sound Art is presenting the latest edition of Springscapes, an annual multimedia series. The goal is to draw attention to the dramatic changes in the natural soundscape that come with the change of seasons from winter into spring.<\/p>\n

Springscapes includes installations and workshops at their North Media Arts Centre, along with a special concert to celebrate birth on Mother\u2019s Day, and livestream events you can experience anywhere that continue until June 17, 2024. The concert will feature the works of Susan Frykberg and Soft Alchemy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Re-birth and regeneration of spring is evident in the soundscape, in the budding trees and in the changes in rhythms within communities in the North. These themes will be evidenced in the ever-changing sounds of spring provided by members of the region and included in the surround sound exhibition at NAISA.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe transformation of birth and renewal will also be the focus of the special concert on the eve of Mother\u2019s Day as well as in the annual Reveil broadcast which travels the earth on the first weekend in May,\u201d comments Darren Copeland<\/strong>, Artistic Director, New Adventures in Sound Art in a statement.<\/p>\n

Almaguin Community Soundscapes<\/h3>\n

NAISA is located in the Almaguin Highlands north of Toronto, where the arrival of spring means melting snow, ice breaking on the lakes and rivers, and the return of buzzing insects and birds. Spring peepers announce the season\u2019s arrival.<\/p>\n

Those sounds of spring, as contributed by area residents, and updated weekly to truly reflect the season as it develops, will surround visitors experiencing this installation. The physical exhibit is on display until June 17<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
