Lang Lang<\/strong>\u2019s Saint-Sa\u00ebns<\/strong> sits at the top at No. 1 for the third week in a row. Daniel Hope<\/strong>\u2019s Dance<\/strong> and Il Divo<\/strong>\u2019s anniversary release XX<\/strong> dropped one position each to land at 3 and 4 respectively. They make room for Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin<\/strong> and the Orchestre M\u00e9tropolitain<\/strong>, who just debuted in the Top Ten last week with Sibelius 2 and 5. This week, the release climbs to No. 2. Francesca Dego<\/strong> and her Brahms & Busoni Violin Concertos<\/strong> takes the slow and steady approach to rise from No. 7 to No. 6.<\/p>\n

The biggest leap in the Top Ten comes from newcomer Beethoven for Three<\/strong>, with Yo-Yo Ma<\/strong>, Emanuel Ax<\/strong>, and Leonidas Kavakos<\/strong>. The album is the next in a series offered on the Sony Classical label. The Beethoven for Three phenom has its origins in a live performance at the 2021 Tanglewood Festival. The first recording included Symphonies 2 and 5, followed by Symphony No. 6 \u201cPastorale\u201d and Op. 1, No. 3. The latest includes Symphony No. 4 and the \u2018Archduke\u2019 Trio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Shai Worsner re-arranges the symphonic works into intimate pieces that retain the power of Beethoven\u2019s expression. Through the series of recordings , the trio of Emanuel Ax (piano), Leonidas Kavakos (violin), Yo-Yo Ma (cello), explore Beethoven\u2019s great orchestral works in a pared down version that looks for the essence of each piece. Each recording pairs the symphonies with Beethoven\u2019s piano trios as a contrast.<\/p>\n
