The top three on the list remain unchanged from last week: Lang Lang\u2019s Saint-Sa\u00ebns<\/strong> sits at the top at No. 1, with Daniel Hope\u2019s Dance<\/strong> and Il Divo<\/strong>\u2019s anniversary release XX<\/strong> following at 2 and 3 respectively. There a bit of shuffling around in the rest of the Top Ten, with the biggest movement saved for this week\u2019s newcomer.<\/p>\n

Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin<\/strong> and the Orchestre M\u00e9tropolitain<\/strong> make the only debut in the Top Ten this week, making the leap all the way from No. 12 to land at No. 4 with Sibelius Symphonies 2 and 5<\/strong>. The release is part of a multi-year project on the part of the Orchestre M\u00e9tropolitain and conductor Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin on the ATMA Classique label, which began with Sibelius 1 in 2019. The works were recorded at Maison symphonique de Montr\u00e9al. Despite all his international success with the Metropolitan Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, and many others, N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin holds true to his stated \u201clifetime\u201d commitment to the OM.<\/p>\n

Sibelius\u2019s second and fifth symphonies were composed with a period of about 15 years between them, and are among the best known of the composer\u2019s works. The symphonies came from different periods in Sibelius\u2019 life, and represent two of his musical modes. The second displays the Finnish nationalism and romanticism of a younger man, while his fifth symphony is characteristic of his more mature and minimalist style.<\/p>\n
