The year will be marked by a major departure, that of Principal Dancer and Choreographic Associate\u00a0<strong>Guillaume C\u00f4t\u00e9<\/strong>, who\u00a0will retire after 26 years and a celebrated career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur 2024\/25 season demonstrates the artistry and ambition of The National Ballet of Canada today, as we balance our classical legacy with heightened innovation and involvement with the international dance community. I have sought richness and complexity across movement and music, introduced important choreographic voices and new collaborations that extend our creative lineage and, above all, to bring a sense of freshness, familiarity and meaning to our stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis season will mark the farewell of an outstanding artist in Principal Dancer\u00a0Guillaume C\u00f4t\u00e9. It includes a multidisciplinary solo,\u00a0<strong>Into the fade<\/strong>, that he performs, and created with long-time collaborator filmmaker\u00a0Ben Shirinian. He\u2019ll also perform his 2012 work\u00a0<strong>Bolero<\/strong>. The company\u2019s newest Choreographic Associate,\u00a0<strong>Ethan Colangelo<\/strong>\u00a0and Toronto-born\u00a0<strong>Jennifer Archibald<\/strong>\u00a0will both be creating new works.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough my career with The National Ballet of Canada is ending, I carry with me the most beautiful memories of people, places and moments that have shaped who I am and will stay with me forever. For my final performance, I wanted to work with a very close collaborator, film director\u00a0Ben Shirinian. Ben and I have worked on many films together including\u00a0Lost in Motion\u00a0and\u00a0Lulu\u00a0and I thought it would be very special to ask Ben to create a film element as I say farewell,\u201d\u00a0said C\u00f4t\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>The North American premiere of\u00a0Christian\u00a0Spuck\u2019s alluring\u00a0<strong>Anna Karenina<\/strong> ends the season, with a curated score featuring music by\u00a0Sergei Rachmaninoff\u00a0and\u00a0Witold Lutoslawski.<\/p>\n<h3>The NBC On The Road<\/h3>\n<p>The National Ballet of Canada will return to <strong>Sadler\u2019s Wells Theatre in London, U.K.<\/strong> on tour in October 2024.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ll bring a mixed program with works by an all-Canadian line-up of choreographers that includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Crystal Pite\u2019s Angels\u2019 Atlas;<\/li>\n<li>Emma Portner\u2019s islands;<\/li>\n<li>Passion\u00a0by\u00a0James Kudelka.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The company will be making its annual trip east the <strong>National Arts Centre in Ottawa<\/strong> from January 30 to February 1, 2025 with Giselle.<\/p>\n<p>More information about the season and subscriptions available [<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/national.ballet.ca\/Tickets\/Next-Season\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a><\/strong>].<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Are you looking to promote an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/advertising\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0e101a\"><u>event<\/u><\/span><\/a>?
