An afternoon with the orchestra can be just the tonic for those late winter blues. The Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra is encouraging a hands-on experience at their upcoming open house. On March 9, there will be performances and more at a free, family-friendly event.<\/p>\n

From talented community groups to an orchestral performance, it\u2019s a chance to explore orchestral music in a relaxed environment, and no matter what your age.<\/p>\n

The Event<\/h2>\n

The afternoon event begins with live performances from a variety of musical groups and in various genres from Scarborough.<\/p>\n

Other activities offer an interactive experience. If you\u2019ve ever wanted to get your hands on a trumpet or another orchestral instrument just to see what it\u2019s like, the Instrument Petting Zoo<\/strong> will let you try out a range of instruments under the guidance of trained and experienced musicians. For kids, it\u2019s a chance to ignite the spark for what could be a lifelong love for music and music education.<\/p>\n

Free Concert<\/h3>\n

A free concert concludes the afternoon, featuring the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra and soloist Max Tian. Pianist Max Tian<\/strong> is the 2023 winner of the Concerto Trophy in the piano category at the CCC Toronto International Music Festival. He also won the International Music Academy Prize for most promising pianist in 2023.<\/p>\n
