Positions 3 to 6 held their ground from last week, including Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin<\/strong> and the London Symphony Orchestra<\/strong> with Maestro<\/strong> (music by Leonard Bernstein), Andre Rieu<\/strong>\u2019s Jewels of Romance, Bruce Liu<\/strong> and Waves<\/strong>, and Liona Boyd<\/strong>\u2019s Once Upon A Time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

New to the Top Ten is Igor Levit<\/strong> and Mendelssohn<\/strong>, a release that rose from position 13 to No. 7. In interviews, Levit has described feeling a sense of urgency that pushed him to record the work of Mendelssohn, in particular, his Lieder ohne Worte, a piece that Levit is using to help fund antisemitic activism in the wake of the October attacks on Israelis.<\/p>\n

The Philharmonic Brass<\/strong> also make the leap up to No. 9 from 14 last week with Overture!<\/strong> The release of virtuosic arrangements of famous overtures includes Verdi\u2019s \u201cLa Forza del Destino\u201d and Gershwin\u2019s \u201cCuban Overture\u201d, along with works by Shostakovich, Beethoven, Borodin and Dvorak. The ensemble\u2019s musicians are culled fromm the Berlin and Vienna Phils, and made their public debut with conductor Tugan Sokhieve at Vienna\u2019s Musikverein in April 2023.<\/p>\n
