Dancer Ma\u00efka Giasson will perform the choreography of Stacey D\u00e9silier for the performance on November 23.<\/p>\n<p>Toronto\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/2023\/02\/28\/interview-toronto-duo-vc2-talk-cellos-community-new-release-thou\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">VC2 Cello Duo<\/a> will perform an opening set of music from their latest albums, Beethoven\u2019s Cellists and I and Thou.<\/p>\n<h2>RITU\u00c6LS<\/h2>\n<p>During the performance, the musicians are situated in several spaces to enhance the works on the programme. The music includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179): O vis aeternitatis<\/li>\n<li>Arvo P\u00e4rt (born in 1935): Psalom and Summa<\/li>\n<li>Nicole Liz\u00e9e (born in 1973): Another Living Soul*, **<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/2023\/04\/05\/preview-bryce-dessner-talks-dream-house-quartet-music-north-american-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bryce Dessner<\/a> (born in 1976): Aheym and Tenebre*<\/li>\n<li>Michael Tippett (1905-1998): Lament<\/li>\n<li>Jocelyn Morlock (1969-2023): Exaudi*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>* arrangement by Thibault Bertin-Maghit<br \/>\n** written for Kronos Performing Arts Association\u2019s Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2LIo_6C4-9E?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>Carefully crafted lighting and stage design enhance the music, which begins with the medieval chants of von Bingen. Each piece of music emerges from the last. Michael Tippett\u2019s Lament reaches into the past, based on Purcell\u2019s aria Ah! Belinda, which in turn takes its inspiration partly from an Irish tune popular during the Renaissance.<\/p>\n<p>The late <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/toronto\/2023\/03\/28\/memoriam-composer-jocelyn-morlock-died-age-53\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jocelyn Morlock<\/a>\u2019s work Exaudi moves from grief to acceptance and even hope.
