As of the 2006 Census, it has a population of 635,370, and one of the\u00a0most diverse areas of Toronto. It includes some of the most affluent areas of the city (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The Bridle Path<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Hogg&#8217;s Hollow<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">York Mills<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Willowdale<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Bayview Village<\/span>) and yet some of the poorest ears as well (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Jane and Finch<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Flemingdon Park<span style=\"color: #000000;\">,<\/span><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Lawrence Heights<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>The ear includes\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Don Mills<span style=\"color: #000000;\">,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0which is famous for being Canada&#8217;s first planned postwar suburbs. \u00a0It also includes excellent examples of modern architecture, from ranch-style houses to glass and steel factory buildings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"pageTitle\"><span class=\"title\">Once a sleepy small-town residential enclave,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Willowdale<\/span> has evolved into a dense core with a city\u00a0skyline following Yonge Street. The heart of the neighbourhood is Mel Lastman Square &#8211; named after the former mayor of both North York and Toronto.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"pageTitle\">Another neighbourhood in the area\u00a0worth mentioning is <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Weston. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It was one of the many <\/span>small rural towns that surrounded Toronto that were eventually swallowed\u00a0up as the city grew.
