SUMMARY:North Wind Concerts | Pop-Up Pot Pourri
DESCRIPTION:Join us for POP-UP POT-POURRI – an eclectic\, in-the-round evening of music including late sixteenth-century works by William Byrd from Lady Nevell’s Book and other sources\, Canadian recorder quartets from the mid-twentieth century by Jean Papineau-Couture and George Fiala\, hurdy gurdy solos by Ligeti and Matthias Loibner\, improvisations on haiku\, and more. \nGracing the floorboards to perform will be Ben Grossman\, vielle à roue/hurdy gurdy; Alison Melville\, flutes; Louise Hung\, virginal; and recorder players Romina Abadi\, Colin Savage and Yasuchika Suzuki – and YOU\, members of the audience\, who will select and read out the haiku! In addition\, some conversation between musicians and audience members will get our synapses firing. It’s a 1590s/1950s/haiku ‘happening!’ \nSuggested donation: $20
