SUMMARY:Toronto Symphony Orchestra | Screen to Stage: Appalachian Spring & More
DESCRIPTION:Marking two years since the stage first went dark in response to COVID-19\, the TSO presents live performances of works that were shared digitally with our audiences during the early days of the pandemic\, including Aaron Copland’s iconic Appalachian Spring\, which culminates in a stirring rhapsody on the Shaker hymn “Simple Gifts”. TSO Concertmaster Jonathan Crow shines in Beethoven’s graceful Violin Romance No. 2. Led by conductor Ryan Bancroft in his TSO début\, this restorative program also features Mozart’s well-known Symphony No. 29 and Vivian Fung’s heartfelt Prayer (a CBC Music commission for orchestral musicians across the country).
