With non-stop dancing and magnificent sets and costumes from Santo Loquasto\, with lighting by Jennifer Tipton\, The Nutcracker is an unforgettable tribute to the imagination. \nSquabbling siblings Marie and Misha are attending a Christmas party at their country estate when their mysterious Uncle Nikolai arrives\, bearing gifts. These include a beautiful nutcracker doll for Marie\, who takes it to the nursery that night. Then the magic begins. The clock strikes twelve\, the Christmas tree grows to enormous proportions and Marie and Misha journey to the icy realm of the Snow Queen and golden palace of the Sugar Plum Fairy where they must learn to get along.

DESCRIPTION:Odessa Waltz and Dedication Irina Grafova \nWorld premiere \nIrina Olegovna Grafova studies piano and composition at the Stolyarsky Special Music School\, the Odessa Conservatory and Moscow State University (Odessa) and is a laureate of international competitions. \nShe is also a well-known poet\, with the volume 50 Shades of Poetry published in November 2021\, Fairytale Poems of the Princess for children published in December 2021\, and other poems included in five national collections. She has been awarded a Heritage Star and nominated for Ukraine’s national Poet of the Year award. \nSinfonia Toronto performed Ms. Grafova’s Hero City Odessa in May 2022. This evening’s premiere reveals a similarly evocative melodic and harmonic style grounded in Ukrainian heritage.
