SUMMARY:Music Niagara | Toronto Children’s Chorus and the Toronto Youth Choir
DESCRIPTION:Founded in 1978 by Jean Ashworth Bartle\, the Toronto Children’s Chorus (TCC) is now celebrating its 45th concert season. Over the course of its history\, the TCC has won numerous competitions\, including the International Eisteddfod in Wales and the CBC\, Kathaumixw\, and Let the Peoples Sing Competitions in Canada. The choir has also performed at such revered venues as Carnegie Hall\, the Kennedy Center\, the Sydney Opera House\, Royal Albert Hall\, and The Dom in Salzburg. In addition to their demanding annual concert seasons\, these young choral ambassadors have represented Canada on thirty-one international tours and seven national tours\, most recently Choral Connect national conference in Wellington\, New Zealand\, and the Gondwana World Choral Festival in Sydney\, Australia (2019). \nThe Toronto Children’s Chorus consists of eight choirs; four Training Choirs ages 6- 12 (Spirito\, Pasio\, Anima\, and Coro)\, three Main Choirs ages 12-18 (Cantare\, Chorealis\, and Chamber)\, and the Toronto Youth Choir (TYC) ages 16-30. \nIn addition to its annual concert series this season\, the Chamber Choir and TYC have made several guest appearances\, most notably with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in Holst’s ‘The Planets\,’ and with the FILMharmonique Orchestra in Howard Shore’s ‘Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring’ in concert. At the end of June\, the Chamber Choir looks forward to an 8-day tour to Washington\, D.C.\, Maryland and New York participating in ‘Voices Together: An International Youth Choral Symposium’ in Maryland\, performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City\, and visiting historic American landmarks and attending Broadway shows.. \nFor more information\, please visit: https://torontochildrenschorus.com/.
