DESCRIPTION:Jonathan Oldengarm is the newly-appointed Minister of Music here at Metropolitan United Church\, where\nhe is honoured to succeed Dr. Patricia Wright. A prizewinner at several national and international competitions\,\nhe concertizes in Europe and North America. Recent performance credits include the Bachfest in Leipzig; the\nCastle Church in Wittenberg; the Maison symphonique and St. Joseph Oratory (Montreal)\, Ensemble Caprice\,\nMcGill Chamber Orchestra and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. He has been broadcast on the CBC\, Radio\nCanada\, Sirius Satellite Radio\, NPR\, RTÉ\, and the European Broadcasting Union. His discography includes\nfour organ and choral discs with the Choir of the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul\, Montreal; the complete\nchoral-organ works of Widor and Vierne with Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal (ATMA Classique); “A\nMare usque ad mare”\, a disc of Canadian works for organ and saxophone\, together with Claudia Tesorino\n(Klanglogo); two discs with the Ottawa Bach Choir; and most recently\, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice with Buzz\nBrass.\nHe holds a doctorate in organ performance from McGill University; the Fellowship diploma of the Royal\nCanadian College of Organists; and studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart\, Germany. From 2008\nuntil 2022 he taught at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University\, while serving as Director of Music\nand Organist at the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul in Montreal.
