SUMMARY:Attila Glatz Concert Productions | Jonathan Antoine Live In Concert
DESCRIPTION:Crossover British tenor and star of Britain’s Got Talent\, Jonathan Antoine transforms the Winter Garden Theatre into a musical fantasy world featuring iconic music ranging from Disney anthems to popular songs and the world’s greatest arias (including his debut performance of “Nessun Dorma”)\, all performed by the young\, 24 year-old vocal sensation. \nThis magical concert\, which will be filmed for television\, also features the internationally acclaimed\, Grammy-nominated virtuoso electric cellist\, Tina Guo and Disney’s own a cappella vocal sensation DCappella. Along with an orchestra\, these artists will bring their audience into the fantastic world of Jonathan Antoine and friends. \nJonathan’s career was kickstarted at age 17 after he was discovered on Britain’s Got Talent\, and he produced two albums and toured across Europe with that momentum. He appeared as Placido Domingo’s guest in the finale concert of the month-long iTunes festival held at the Roundhouse in London\, and shortly thereafter released his first solo album\, Tenore\, which reached #1 on the classical music chart. He debuted in the USA at the 20th anniversary Muhammad Ali’s Celebrity Fight Night and in Florida where he sang The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” with Sting\, Ne-Yo\, Adam Levine and Tessanne Chin. His fourth album\, Believe\, topped the charts in 2016. \nDetails\, here.

SUMMARY:Tapestry Opera | Book of My Shames
DESCRIPTION:In the premiere of his new solo show – part confessional comedy\, part opera séance\, part love letter to lost innocence – Canadian tenor\, writer\, and composer Isaiah Bell (Antinous in the world premiere of Rufus Wainwright and Daniel MacIvor’s Hadrian) traces the roots and ramifications of the war inside. The Book of My Shames takes a unique perspective on the conflict between our naked primal longing and that basic modern need to make everything seem OK. It manages to find the humour in a gaslighting Evangelical cult and the pathos in a terrible teen-angst play\, and to bring curiosity and compassion to parts of the human experience most of us would rather ignore. \nIsaiah says: “I’m a good and happy modern gay\, thanks very much: sufficiently erudite\, reasonably camp\, ambitious\, polite. But there’s this other me that’s at odds with all that; this tender part that has been left behind in the dark. Shame maintains the gap between us. So I’m reaching out. This is my Rosetta Stone between two halves of a broken heart.” \nThe hybrid music-theatre piece offsets rapid-fire monologues with an unorthodox array of music old and new\, including an expansive original memory opera. It makes us laugh while honestly asking: What would it take to really change? How do we learn to love when we’ve turned on ourselves? Is it too late? \nCreated and performed by Isaiah Bell\nwith Sean Guist\, director and dramaturge\nand Darren Creech\, pianist \nTickets\, here.

SUMMARY:Luminato Festival | KIRA: The Path/La Voie
DESCRIPTION:KIRA\, The Path | La Voie celebrates humanity as one village and its sacred bond to nature. It features a dynamic cast of dancers and percussionists whose evocative chants and powerful drum beats invoke Mother Earth’s wisdom and echo her auspicious warning: the invisible cord that links us to her is wasting away. The interpreters are guided by the voices of our ancestors – the guardians of our moral code and spiritual guides. \nChoreographer and composer Fara Tolno is one of the most influential African artists of this generation\, actively increasing the professional recognition of African Dance in North America. He brings an innovative perspective to African dance and music\, steeped in his knowledge of Guinean culture.
