DESCRIPTION:Orpheus Productions Presents: SHAKESPEARE’S CRIMINAL \nA Chamber Opera \nMusic by Dustin Peters | Libretto by Sky Gilbert \nStarring Marion Newman\, Dion Mazerolle and Nathaniel Bacon \nApril 26-28\, 2019 \nOrpheus Productions will present three performances of a workshop presentation of Shakespeare’s Criminal\, a new chamber opera with music by Dustin Peters and libretto by Sky Gilbert\, starring Marion Newman\, Dion Mazerolle and Nathaniel Bacon\, April 26-28\, 2019 at Factory. \nShakespeare’s Criminal is an opera in one act about an older male poet named Shakespeare who is not able to admit that he is a homosexual; instead\, he hides his attraction for men in the flowery language of The Sonnets\, for which he is much esteemed. He meets a beautiful young HIV positive man to whom he finds himself attracted\, but whom he resists. \nA wild\, fierce\, hysterical\, voyeur enters; she urges the older poet to fall in love with the young man and have sex with him. The woman is so persuasive that it seems the older closeted poet will succumb\, but at the last moment\, he cannot bring himself to risk his reputation. In revenge\, the woman turns the old poet into a tree. \nTickets\, here.

DESCRIPTION:Hungarian violinist\, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of Concerto Budapest Symphony Orchestra\, and founder of the Keller Quartet\, András Keller has won numerous awards. He was the artistic director of the Arcus Temporum Festival in Pannonhalma 2004-10\, the founder and the artistic director of International Sándor Végh String Quartet Competition\, and between 2012 and 2015 was head of Chamber Music Department in Liszt Academy of Music. Pianist Linda Ruan performs Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2. \nThe Glenn Gould School (GGS)’s Royal Conservatory Orchestra (RCO) is widely regarded as an outstanding ensemble and one of the best training orchestras in North America. Part of the Temerty Orchestral Program at the GGS\, it consists of instrumental students in the undergraduate and graduate programs of The Glenn Gould School.
