DESCRIPTION:The Upper Canada Choristers and conductor Laurie Evan Fraser hope you can join us to celebrate 25 years of community service at a concert\ntitled How Can I keep From Singing\, Friday\, May 10\, 7:30 p.m. at Metropolitan United Church\, 56 Queen St E (just east of Yonge Street beside St Mike’s hospital). \nTickets are $25\, children and teens free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be reserved by calling 416-256-0510 or\nemailing info@uppercanadachoristers.org. More info will be posted at http://uppercanadachoristers.org. \nPatrons are invited to bring a non-perishable item for the Daily Bread Food Bank. \nThis season\, the Upper Canada Choristers celebrate the 25th anniversary of their founding by Laurie Evan Fraser and Jacqui Atkin.\nThe anniversary will be celebrated in the May 10\, 2019 spring concert\, How Can I Keep From Singing? The program will include\nthe premiere of a six-song cycle on the theme of love\, composed by Stephen Chatman to poetry by Sara Teasdale\, a special commission\nfor the anniversary. \nTwo days later\, on May 12\, the choir leaves for a 10-day Peace Through Music concert tour of Japan. Continuing its model of\ncommunity service\, the choir will perform in seniors’ residences and daycares. It will also reconnect for a Tokyo concert with\nSei-Yu-Kai\, the Japanese choir that visited Canada in 2008 and with whom the UCC gave a joint concert. The trip will also give the\nchoir members a chance to meet up again with Japanese alumni who have returned to their native country.
