SUMMARY:Tafelmusik | Lotti Revealed
DESCRIPTION:Antonio Lotti was one of those important baroque composers whose name has been lost in the march of musical history. But as a contemporary of Bach and Handel\, and the teacher of Zelenka\, the Venetian Lotti was a significant figure in his day. Lotti’s Missa Sapientiae may not be well known today\, but if you looked in the libraries of both Bach and Handel\, there you’d find it—a copy of the Mass\, written out by hand by the famous composers themselves.\n\nTafelmusik Orchestra and Chamber Choir help us recover Lotti and his place in the baroque musical world by pairing the work that fired the imagination of Lotti’s contemporaries with music by Bach\, Handel\, and Zelenka themselves.\n\n\n\nPre-concert Chat\nJoin us one hour before each concert for a free pre-concert chat with Tafelmusik alto Kate Helsen.\n\n\nProgram\n\nLotti Missa Sapientiae\n\nIntermission \n\nZelenka Agnus Dei II\, from Litaniae Lauretanae\, ZWV 152\nZelenka Sanctus – Benedictus – Osanna – Agnus Dei\, after Palestrina\, ZWV 36\nZelenka Dona nobis pacem\, from Missa dei Patris\, ZWV 19\nBach Gloria\, from Mass in G Minor\, BWV 235\nBach Suscepit Israel puerum suum\, after Caldara\, BWV 1082\nBach Sanctus in D Major\, BWV 238\nJames Rolfe Kadosh / Santus / Holy (2019) – World premiere Get to know James with our Q&A here\nHandel Nisi Dominus & Gloria Patria\, from Carmelite Vespers
