An event every day that begins at 7:30pm, repeating until December 16, 2017
Relish Tafelmusik’s original sounds of Handel’s go-to oratorio for the festive season.
“Tafelmusik’s Messiah (is) a masterpiece of urgency and fire, tension and drama.” – The Globe and Mail
As you count down the first 24 days of December, pause to reflect that Handel wrote his oratorio Messiahin just 24 days! A mere 240 years later Tafelmusik gave our first performance of it, and it has been a cherished musical rite of the holiday season ever since.
Bring your friends and family this year to revel in the glories of Handel’s masterwork with the renowned Tafelmusik Choir and Orchestra, directed by Ivars Taurins. From reflective arias to the exhilaration and power of the choruses, Tafelmusik once again recaptures the spirit and drama of this remarkable score.
Joining us in the glorious setting of Koerner Hall are a stellar line-up of soloists: soprano Joanne Lunn, countertenor James Laing, tenor Rufus Müller, and baritone Brett Polegato.
