In the 71st year of the franchise, the Juilliard welcomes a new cellist – and its first-ever female member, Astrid Schween. The Juilliard has retained its legendary reputation through many personnel changes, and continues to represent the United States and the renowned Juilliard School. Ms. Schween joins first violinist Joseph Lin, second violinist Ronald Copes and violist Roger Tapping in touring throughout the US and frequently in Europe. The quartet’s recordings have earned 5 Grammy Awards and, in 2011, the first Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award given to a classical ensemble.
