The seemingly infinite genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart remains a pinnacle of western cultural achievement. Many aspects of Mozart’s talents were not even well known to himself, as the composer penned masterpiece after masterpiece: endlessly innovative, irresistable and every one, inescapably human. This programme centres upon one of Mozart’s most humanizing pieces: the Sonata in B-flat major, K.333. Written in 1783, this sonata brims over with lyrical spirit, melodic invention and unpredictability. Paired with this larger work is the ever-loved Rondo in D, K.485 as well as Adam Sherkin’s own homage to Mozart, ‘Amadeus A.D.’ written for the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth.
Mozart – Sonata No.13 in B-flat major, K.333
Mozart – Rondo in D major, K.485
