Yunchan Lim takes over the No. 1 spot on the Classical Chartz this week with his recording of Tchaikovsky’s Seasons, a suite of 12 short character pieces. He makes the jump up after debuting on the Chartz at No. 5 last week.
Viviane Audet’s Le Piano et le torrent take a step down to land at No. 2, and likewise, Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax and Leonidas Kavakos’ Beethoven For Three goes down one notch from No. 2 to No. 3.
What’s new in the Top Ten is Hauser’s Cinema, which makes the leap from No. 13 last week to land at No. 8. Hauser’s Classic II took over the top spot for a week or two back in 2024.
The superstar cellist recorded the 25-track collection with the London Symphony Orchestra and conductor Robert Ziegler. It’s an homage to favourite film music, including including “What Was I Made For?,” “Concerto pour la fin d’un amour,” “Le Vent, Le Cri,” Phantom of the Opera’s “Music Of The Night”, “A Time For Us”, and the Oscar-winning “Writing’s on the Wall” from the James Bond flick Spectre. Hauser previously recorded film and TV music in the album Score as part of the 2CELLOS duo.
The mood ranges from adventure to romance, and what are being touted as “hidden gems” from composers such as Vangelis, Luis Bacalov, and Nino Rota.
He’ll be touring Europe extensively in support of the album through till the end of the year.
