THE SCOOP | Pianist Christina Petrowska Quilico Named To Order Of Ontario

Pianist Christina Petrowska Quilico, C.M., FRSC has been named to the Order of Ontario. Petrowska Quilico will receive the honour from Her Honour Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Ontario Lieutenant Governor and Chancellor of The Order of Ontario in a ceremony on November 21.

The official media release describes the recognition. “The Order of Ontario recognizes exceptional leaders from all walks of life and diverse fields of endeavour whose impact and lasting legacy have played an important role in building a stronger province, country and world.”

Petrowska Quilico is the only musician among the 24 appointees for 2021. The official list of appointees cites her work. “Pianist Christina Petrowska Quilico has opened the ears of music lovers internationally through numerous classical and contemporary performances, with an orchestra and as soloist on over 50 internationally acclaimed recordings.” She is also Professor of Musicology and Piano at York University, and founded The Christina and Louis Quilico Award at the Ontario Arts Foundation and Canadian Opera Company.

The Order of Ontario is one of a string of accolades and recognition for Petrowska Quilico in recent years.

Her work will be featured in two upcoming recordings from the Canadian Music Centre’s Centrediscs label in 2023
