Canadian mezzo Simone McIntosh and American soprano Meredith Wohlgemuth were crowned winners of the Montreal International Music Competition, Voice 2022 edition, last night at La Maison symphonique.

The Voice edition of the 2022 Concours musical international de Montréal wrapped up last night at the Aria Grand Finale, with winners announced.

The prizes, worth a total of $220,000, some twenty in all, took place after a thrilling finale dominated by the Vancouver native Simone McIntosh. She will take home a grand cash prize of $30,000.

American soprano Meredith Wohlgemuth took home first place in the Art Song division.

The prize comes with the Joseph Rouleau Career Development Grant of $50,000 offered by the Azrieli Foundation and the Normand Beauchamp Winner’s Tour to Three North American Cities of $15,000 offered by Sarah Beauchamp.

The Maison symphonique had five solid finalists performing three songs with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, under the direction of Jacques Lacombe backing the singers.

Simone sings third in the Aria First round performances on Day 2 of the competition:
