THE SCOOP | Ontario Is Reopening Friday: What This Means For The Arts

All of Ontario will be reopening its doors on Friday. The marks the official move towards Step 1 of the province’s Ontario’s economic reopening plan.

The first stage focuses on opening mostly outdoor events, as well as re-opening business with highly restricted occupancy rules, rather than outright closures as before.

We know what you’re thinking…

… What does this mean for the arts?

Concert venues, theatres and cinemas may open outdoors for the purpose of rehearsing or performing a recorded or broadcasted concert, artistic event, theatrical performance or other performance with no more than 10 performers, among other restrictions.

And for those running summer festivals, is this news too late?

Probably… It takes time to plan events, and Summer Festivals have already held off as long as they could. Most have already started to announce fully online seasons this year.

And everyone else?

See here for all the details.
