It’s no secret that you’re much more likely to hear a piece of music written by someone dead than from someone alive if you go to a classical music concert. The reason is complicated, but the long-smouldering reverence for classical music’s past can sometimes leave audiences missing out on classical music’s future.

Composers: better off dead?

The Azrieli Foundation is putting their money where their mouths are to ensure you have a chance to hear some music by actual living composers.

Now in the second year, Azrieli Music Prizes Performance Fund is inviting proposals for performances over the next three seasons through 2023-24.
