Watch out Tafelmusik. There’s a new period ensemble on the block.
Violin virtuoso Nicola Benedetti will be releasing her first-ever period album on Decca Classics this summer.
The release will coincide with a series of eight live performances at London’s Battersea Arts Centre this July.
The album will feature Benedetti performing with a new ensemble of freelance musicians called the Benedetti Baroque Orchestra. The baroque “supergroup” will include harpsichordist Steven Devine, violinist Kati Debretzeni and lutenist Elizabeth Kenny.
Repertoire includes Vivaldi concertos and Geminiani’s arrangement of Corelli’s La Folia.
