THE SCOOP | Guillaume Côté Named Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Québec

Québec Premier François Legault has today appointed National Ballet of Canada’s Principal Dancer Guillaume Côté a Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Québec.

Côté, along with 42 other appointments, will receive their honours at a virtual ceremony held on Tuesday, June 22, at 2:00 p.m.

Born in Lac-Saint-Jean, Québec Côté first joined the National Ballet in 1998. He received his training at Canada’s National Ballet School.

As principal of National Ballet, Côté can be seen in most of the main roles each season, for both mainstay and contemporary productions.

He’s also a popular guest artist with Teatro alla Scala, English National Ballet, The Royal Ballet, American Ballet Theatre and The Mikhailovsky Theatre, to name a few.

This is Côté’s second major honour in his home province of Quebec. In 2012, he was awarded La médaille de l’Assemblée nationale du Québec, a prestigious award recognizing his work in the arts.
