The names of eight pianists who will compete in the Final Round of the 19th edition of the Concours Musical International de Montréal (CMIM) have been announced.

They are Alice Burla, Chaeyoung Park, Dimitri Malignan, Francesco Granata, Su Yeon Kim, Marcel Tadokoro, Ying Li and Yoichiro Chiba.

The eight finalists will each return to venues in their hometowns to record a second, one-hour recital for the next round between May 10-13.

The top prize includes a concerto performance with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and a solo album recording on the Steinway & Sons label worth more than $180,000.

Each hopeful will be performing one work by J.S. Bach and three of Juno Award-winning Canadian composer John Burge’s Twenty-four Preludes.
