THE SCOOP | The Concours musical international de Montréal — What You Need To Know About The Semi-Final

There’s nothing like a good music competition to give us a little (positive) excitement in our lives.

The Concours musical international de Montréal has unveiled the running order of the candidates for the semi-final, which will take place in Montreal from April 26 to 30.

Due to the pandemic, the CMIM is taking place this year in virtual mode. The good news is that everything will be free for the public this year. You can catch the entire competition by going to the CMIM website.

The 26 semi-final hopefuls, including two from Canada, will play on Steinway pianos, with 45-minute programmes each:

CMIM 2021 Jury

This year, the CMIM jury, chaired by Zarin Mehta, will include:

The results of the semi-final will be announced on April 30 at 2 p.m. Eight candidates will be chosen for the final, which will take place May 10–13. We will then be able to hear eight recitals of one hour each.

Between the semi-finals and the finals, a programme is planned with masterclasses, tributes and other video content, with dates coming soon.

The closing ceremony will take place on Friday, May 14 at 10 a.m., with the announcement of the winners.
