THE SCOOP | Stratford Summer Music Appoints New General Manager

Stratford Summer Music (SSM) has hired Kendra Fry as General Manager, effective April 1, 2021.

Fry will replace Judy Matheson, who had served in the role for seven years.

Hailing from Goderich, Ontario, Fry has served as General Manager of Toronto’s Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre since 2013. She also works as a consultant assisting in repurposing buildings for faith-based organisations. She is currently a consultant to the Knox Presbyterian Church and Stratford Arts and Culture Collective, advising on governance, redesign and planned housing in a proposed arts centre-church-housing complex.

Before that, Fry served as General Manager of Theatre Passe Muraille and General Manager of the Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company and Cahoots Theatre Projects.

“When my family and I made the decision last April to embrace our dreams and move to Stratford, we had no idea that SSM would be seeking a new General Manager,” explained Fry. “I feel like I’ve won the lottery, moving to Stratford and joining Stratford Summer Music. Stratford is such a creative and engaging city.”

“Our search for Judy’s successor has found us someone with significant depth of experience in the arts world,” said SSM Artistic Director Mark Fewer. “She’s also a person with a disposition that connects well with others in the community, so I have no doubt that Kendra will make a significant contribution to the well-being of Stratford and the long-term health of SSM.”
