Le Festival de Lanaudière has announced an exclusive recital by pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin performing from the Musée d’art de Joliette on August 9 at 3:30 p.m.
Richard-Hamelin will perform Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas Nos. 13 and 14, Op. 27 — which includes the famous “Moonlight Sonata” — as well as Frédéric Chopin’s 24 Preludes, Op. 28.
The festival, which went virtual this summer due to COVID-19, has experienced a resurgence amid the pandemic, with more than 16,000 views during its first two weekends. The streamed events, which included six concerts drawn from the festival archives from the past 42 years, are available on their website.

From July 31 to August 2, “Festival de Lanaudière Connected” will offer an evening of Ravel and Debussy with the OSM and Kent Nagano, Johannes Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 and Symphony No. 2 with pianist Lars Vogt and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, as well as a journey through Italy with the Venice Baroque Orchestra.
Ravel and Debussy by the OSM
On Friday, July 31 at 7:30 p.m., Kent Nagano and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal celebrate French Impressionism with works by Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy. This concert was performed on August 8, 2014.
Brahms by Paavo Järvi (II)
On Saturday, August 1st at 7:30 p.m., enjoy the return of a prestigious German chamber orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, conducted by Paavo Järvi, joined by pianist Lars Vogt. They perform Johannes Brahms’ majestic Piano Concerto No. 1 and Symphony No. 2. This concert was originally presented on August 2, 2014.
From Naples to Venice
On Sunday, August 2 at 3 :30 p.m., hear the exceptional Venice Baroque Orchestra perform works by Francesco Geminiani, Tomaso Albinoni and Antonio Vivaldi, including the iconic Four Seasons. This concert was presented on July 7, 2019.
