MIMC have just announced an impressive list of jury members for the upcoming voice competition in Montreal starting 25 May 2015. Names include: David Agler (Canada); conductor Richard Bonynge (Australia); opera administrator and artistic consultant Brian Dickie (England); tenor Ben Heppner (Canada); baritone Wolfgang Holzmair (Austria); mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne (United States); bass Joseph Rouleau (Canada); mezzo-soprano Birgitta Svendén (Sweden) and soprano Deborah Voigt (United States).
This year’s contest runs from May 25 to June 5. Young classical singers from around the world are invited to apply to participate in an outstanding experience in Montreal, while benefiting from the many opportunities afforded by this exceptional gateway to North America.
The rules and conditions, the required repertoire and the application form are posted on the MIMC website. The Competition will accept applications until December 15, 2014. Following a preliminary video-selection process, 24 singers will be invited to Montreal to take part in the quarter-final round. The selected candidates will have their travel and accommodation expenses covered under the terms and conditions of the Competition. Finalists and winners will perform at Maison symphonique with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.
