Deutsche Grammophon has just announced that German concert and film music composer Max Richter, has struck a substantial deal with the label on the exclusive re-release of a number of his past albums, and some newer projects which have yet to emerge.
Richter responded: “I am thrilled to be part of the Yellow Label family, and look forward to helping shape the presentation of and passion for contemporary music over the coming years.”
The deal encompasses an April, 2014 release of Infra, 24 Postcards in Full Colour, Songs from Before and The Blue Notebooks. In addition, a new recording of Richter’s ambitious orchestral work Memoryhouse will appear in September.
To commemorate the new partnership, Deutsche Grammophon will release a new version of Richter’s best-selling album Vivaldi Recomposed.
The new version will include new remixes, newly composed electronic soundscapes, and an exclusive performance film, featuring Max Richter and violinist Daniel Hope. They will also release a brand-new app that will allow users to explore Richter’s version side-by-side with Vivaldi’s original.
Max Richter, also a prolific film composer, has also announced that he will be writing the music for the new HBO TV series The Leftovers starring Justin Theroux and Liv Tyler.
