Big creativity in small things: How about an opera synopsis rendered as graphic novel?

peterSinfini Music, the massive new classical music site operated by Universal, has posted a graphic plot synopsis by William Elliott of Benjamin Britten’s opera Peter Grimes. It’s a beautiful example of an alternative means to reach out to a different audience that does not change or dumb down the final artistic product.

I’m hoping it may act as an inspiration.

So, to get you primed for the visual experience, here are the amazing kids of the 2011 Interlochen Arts Camp World Youth Symphony Orchestra with the soundtrack (if you want to skip Libby Larsen’s engaging Deep Summer Music, click to the 7′ 50″ mark): Britten’s Sea Interludes, with conductor Jung Ho Pak:

While the Sea Interludes continue to play in the background, you may want to check out the beautiful pictures Sinfini has posted of the weatherbeaten set for next week’s performance of Peter Grimes on the beach in Aldeburgh here.
