Ses chansons\, en particulier\, sont de vrais bijoux. Ce juif new-yorkais d’origine russe a été un pionnier du saxophone soprano. Sa progression a été phénoménale\, débutant avec les grands noms du Dixieland pour se retrouver quelques années plus tard auprès de la crème du jazz moderne : Cecil Taylor\, Carla Bley\, Gil Evans… \n« Steve Lacy a été une de mes idoles de jeunesse\, une boussole qui aura longtemps orienté mes recherches et mon travail.
