Homophobia has reared its head in the classical music world via Florida. Sadly, it\u2019s not the punchline of a joke.<\/p>\n

Pensacola Christian College in Florida<\/strong> cancelled an appearance last weekend by the renowned choral group The King\u2019s Singers<\/strong>, \u201cupon learning that one of the artists openly maintained a lifestyle that contradicts Scripture\u201d. Their statement of February 13 was posted to Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The King\u2019s Singers respond<\/h3>\n

\u201cWe are deeply saddened that our concert at Pensacola Christian College was cancelled at two hours\u2019 notice on Saturday, February 11th,\u201d it begins.<\/p>\n

They note that the institution, which the Singer\u2019s have performed at more than once in the past, and recognize as a fundamentalist Christian college, mentioned the \u201clifestyle\u201d of one of the ensemble\u2019s members as the reason.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur belief is that music can build a common language that allows people with different views and perspectives to come together.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2026the program for their current tour is titled Finding Harmony, which spotlights music that has helped people through times of oppression and adversity.<\/p>\n
