{"id":832,"date":"2022-10-03T17:52:22","date_gmt":"2022-10-03T17:52:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/main\/?p=832"},"modified":"2022-10-03T17:52:22","modified_gmt":"2022-10-03T17:52:22","slug":"study-shows-young-people-active-online-classical-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/main\/2022\/10\/03\/study-shows-young-people-active-online-classical-music\/","title":{"rendered":"Study Shows Young People Most Active For Online Classical Music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-834\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ludwig-van.com\/main\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2022\/10\/Copy-of-Relative-Google-search-interest-data-for-the-term-music-stand.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Deezer,\u00a0 and BPI partnered on a study to explore the listening habits of people over the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The results may shed light on why big tech companies like Apple Music have been taking classical music much more seriously.<\/p>\n<p>The study, which was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic (May 2020),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bpi.co.uk\/media\/2518\/the-classical-revival-2020_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a>\u00a0that orchestral music had grown by 17% among young people during the lockdown.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Other key insights<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In a one-year period (April 2019-2020), there was a 17% increase of Classical listeners on Deezer worldwide.<\/li>\n<li>In the last year, almost a third (31%) of Deezer\u2019s Classical listeners in the UK were under 35 years old, a much younger age profile than those who typically purchase Classical music.<\/li>\n<li>RPO\u2019s research found that under 35s were the most likely age group to have listened to orchestral music during lockdown (59%, compared to a national average of 51%).<\/li>\n<li>There were a greater number of female listeners in the UK listening to Deezer\u2019s Classical playlists during the lockdown.<\/li>\n<li>Classical fans preferred mood-based music during the lockdown. Streams on Deezer\u2019s \u2018Feel Good Classical\u2019 playlist grew by 424% in the third week of March compared to the week before.<\/li>\n<li>35% of respondents in RPO\u2019s research feel orchestral music helped them relax and maintain a sense of calmness and well-being, with 18% saying listening had lifted their spirits.<\/li>\n<li>RPO\u2019s research found under 35s were most likely to say they intended to support arts organizations to help them make up for lost income after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted (64% compared to a national average of 43%).<\/li>\n<li>Classical fans appreciate a full body of work and over-index on album plays.
