Tetzlaff cited Trump\u2019s embrace of Russia, his policies regarding transgender people, and Trump\u2019s cuts to the federal workforce as reasons for his tour cancellation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Die Nachrichten:<\/strong> The German violinist <a href=\"https:\/\/christian-tetzlaff.de\/en\/biography\/\">Christian Tetzlaff<\/a> has become one of the first major foreign artists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/02\/28\/arts\/music\/christian-tetzlaff-violinist-trump-russia.html\">to boycott the United States<\/a> in hopes of influencing its administration\u2019s new policies. Tetzlaff, who is based in Berlin, made the announcement following President Trump\u2019s February 28th public spat with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Tetzlaff described his \u201cutter anger\u201d regarding Trump\u2019s policies towards Russia, transgender rights, and cuts to the federal workforce. The Tetzlaff Quartet was scheduled to play in eight-cities, culminating in a Carnegie Hall performance on March 27th.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ein bisschen mehr\u2026:<\/strong> Christian Tetzlaff, along with other foreign artists,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestrad.com\/news\/angered-by-trump-admin-policies-violinist-christian-tetzlaff-abruptly-cancels-us-tour\/19346.article\"> pays 32% taxes<\/a> to the United States government on each US engagement. The violinist has already boycotted performing in China and Russia due to those government\u2019s policies. He expressed that he would be open to playing fundraising concerts in the US to benefit Ukraine or women\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n<p>Tetzlaff is something of a musical thought leader. In 2022\/2023, he was a Portrait Artist at London\u2019s Wigmore Hall, and has been Artist-in-Residence with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Dresdner Philharmoniker.
