After consulting numerous specialists, Dubeau learned that her finger had suffered permanent damage caused by the pressure of her instrument. The prominent violinist addressed the public in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.journaldemontreal.com\/2024\/10\/23\/cher-public-merci-pour-tous-ces-rendez-vous\">a letter in Le Journal de Montr\u00e9al<\/a> as well as in a video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=1287791995570338\">published on Facebook<\/a> announcing her retirement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Playing catch-up:<\/strong> Ang\u00e8le Dubeau was born in Saint-Norbert, Quebec in 1962. She performed her first concert <a href=\"https:\/\/angeledubeau.com\/en\/biography\/\">at the age of 6<\/a>, won numerous competitions, and pursued studies at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montr\u00e9al, the Juilliard School, and in Romania with the violinist Stefan Gheorghiu. A household name in Quebec, Dubeau hosted a series of broadcast programs in the 1990s for Radio-Canada. She founded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tremblant.ca\/things-to-do\/events\/fete-musique-tremblant\">Tremblant Music Festival<\/a> as well as the all-female string group <a href=\"https:\/\/stringsmagazine.com\/angele-dubeau-celebrates-25-years-with-her-all-female-ensemble-la-pieta\/\">La Piet\u00e0<\/a>, with whom she has released numerous albums and toured internationally. Dubeau\u2019s albums have sold <a href=\"https:\/\/www.noovomoi.ca\/en-vedette\/angele-dubeau-abandonne-musique.html\">more than 65 thousand copies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ang\u00e8le Dubeau is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a Knight of the Order of Quebec. Her 1733 \u201cDes Rosiers\u201d Stradivarius Violin was classified as a national heritage item by former Quebec premier Ren\u00e9 Levesque. We wish her all the best in her bittersweet retirement and in the next phase of her career.
