The grant will support the company\u2019s outreach efforts and help to establish its reputation as one of the world\u2019s leading opera houses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Driving the news:<\/strong> On July 1st, the Greek National Opera (GNO) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalopera.gr\/en\/news-features\/item\/6589-the-snf-gives-a-new-grant-to-the-gno-season-2024-25-programme-announcement\">announced<\/a> its 2024\/2025 season. During the announcement, the GNO shared that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snf.org\/\">Stavros Niarchos Foundation<\/a> (SNF) had granted the company a two-year \u20ac11 million grant. The grant will assist with the company\u2019s outreach and accessibility initiatives, tours, training, and development plans. The SNF hopes to help the company achieve and maintain its status as one of the world\u2019s leading opera companies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Digging deeper:<\/strong> Founded in 1940, the Greek National Opera has been a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fedora-platform.com\/cultural-network\/member-organisations\/greek-national-opera\/9\/about\">private, state-funded organization<\/a> since 1994. It relies largely on public subsidies for its funding, along with some help from ticket sales and corporate donors.<\/p>\n<p>The Stavros Niarchos Foundation previously granted the GNO a four-year grant. Their contributions to the company will soon total over \u20ac39 million.
